1:1 MATCHING DOLLARS

Total amount available: $430,000

Description:
1:1 matching for donations up to $1,000 per unique donor per organization, FOR NEW AND INCREASED GIFTS until funding is exhausted.

How does this work?

  • Example 1: If a donor gave $1,000 to a nonprofit in last year’s Giving Challenge and gives $1,250 to that same nonprofit this year, $250 will be eligible for matching (if funds are still available).
  • Example 2: If a donor gives $700 to a nonprofit this year that he/she did not support in last year’s Giving Challenge, $700 is eligible for matching (if funds are still available).
  • Example 3: If a donor gives $1,000 to a nonprofit that was not in The Giving Challenge last year, $1,000 is eligible for matching (if funds are still available).

INCENTIVE GRANTS

Total amount available: $215,000

OPPORTUNITY 1:
$125,000 in grants for the organizations that get the highest number of “unique” (individual) donors who give to them during the 36-Hour Giving Challenge

For organizations with budgets less than $500,000

1st place (most unique donors) $20,000 grant
2nd place $15,000 grant
3rd place $10,000 grant
4th place $5,000 grant
5th place $2,500 grant
6th place - 15th place $1,000 grant

For organizations with budgets of $500,000 and up:

1st place (most unique donors) $20,000 grant
2nd place $15,000 grant
3rd place $10,000 grant
4th place $5,000 grant
5th place $2,500 grant
6th place - 15th place $1,000 grant

OPPORTUNITY 2:
$1,000 grant for the nonprofits that are the first to get 50 donors to give $50 or more (30 nonprofits)

OPPORTUNITY 3:
$5,000 grant split between the nonprofits that have the best nonprofit partnership for raising money during the Challenge

OPPORTUNITY 4:
$5,000 grant to the nonprofit that has the best partnership with a for-profit business to raise money during the Challenge (1 nonprofit)

OPPORTUNITY 5:
$1,000 grant to the nonprofit that has the best international engagement (1 nonprofit)

OPPORTUNITY 6:
$5,000 grant to the nonprofit with the best overall campaign (potentially integrating video, special event, social media, and any other communication vehicle) (1 nonprofit)

OPPORTUNITY 7:
$20,000 in grants to keep it going!

  • Hourly $250 grants added to one random donor’s gift who gave during that hour (36 to be awarded, $250 per donor)
  • Hourly $2,000 “Night Owl” grants added to one random donor’s gift who gives between the hours of 11 pm–12 am, 12 am–1 am and 1 am–2 am (3 to be awarded, $2,000 per donor)
  • $1,000 “Surprise” grants added to one donor’s gift who gives closest to 5 time periods to be announced during campaign (5 to be awarded, $1,000 per donor)

OPPORTUNITY 8:
$1000: 4 donors who give to the most nonprofits will have an additional $1000 split between the agencies they supported (4 total, $1000 per donor)

OPPORTUNITY 9:
$5,000 grant to nonprofits that drive the most traffic to their profiles in The Giving Partner (4 nonprofits, $5,000 per nonprofit)
